Our practice originated in 1996, after Russell Smith, a partner of Frankfurt, Garbus, Klein & Selz (now Frankfurt, Kurnit, Klein & Selz), left that firm to move to the coastal town of East Hampton, New York and create a different kind of law firm. Several of our attorneys practiced under the name of Smith Dornan & Dehn PC ("SDD"), until 2008, when the media and entertainment lawyers of SDD formed a new firm, SmithDehn LLP. Joining those SDD personnel are international media transactions specialist Alex Hannell who runs our London office, former NBC and CBS in-house counsel Benton Levy, former Chicago Mercantile Exchange in-house counsel Patricia Holland, and U.S. immigration law expert Priya Kumar. BAR ADMISSIONS

Russell Smith, Frank Dehn, Benton Levy, and Priya Kumar are admitted to the bar of the State of New York. Priya Kumar is also admitted in Michigan; Patricia Holland is admitted in Connecticut and Illinois; and Mike Cleaver is admitted in North Carolina. Alex Hannell runs our London office and heads The Business and Legal Affairs Group at our India affiliate, SDD Global Solutions. Alex was admitted to practice law as a solicitor in Australia, but does not practice as a solicitor in his current role. Except as noted above, none of us are admitted to the bar of any other state or country. At the office of our affiliate in India, we do not practice Indian law, nor do we advise or represent residents of India with respect to that law.
